The town is abuzz after a local doctor’s assistant’s sexual relationship with a 14-year-old boy she met in church, came to light when the woman, more than twice his age, was recently arrested for indecent assault.
The 30-year-old married woman and mother of a young girl, was supposed to appear in the Nelspruit Regional Court on August 29 but the case was postponed for further investigation at her attorney’s request.
The couple allegedly had sex on various occasions at the medical practice where she worked. This allegedly happened in a toilet for the first time and in the consulting room and on a table in the reception area on other occasions.
The two had known each other for a while and the affair allegedly started with text messages during a school holiday but they were cut short when the boy’s parents discovered them on his cellphone.
The help of a local pastor was called in and both the boy and the woman reportedly undertook to stop contacting each other when they were confronted.
Shortly after the meeting with the parents, however, the woman allegedly enticed the boy to the doctor’s consulting rooms where they had sex.
She was arrested by members of the Nelspruit Child Protection Unit.
The state is going to try to prove that the couple had sex for the first time when the woman lured the boy to her workplace. She will appear in court again on September 14.
The parents were unwilling to comment when contacted.

As if it was not enough that bikers and more bikers, getting ready for the annual Staffie Rally, invaded the town last Friday,
very weird characters appeared on the street as well. These two (who wanted to stay anonymous) tried to draw money at Absa
and caused quite a stir. Of cause this was all in aid of Casual Day and clients visiting the bank could only gape at the
metamorphosis the bank underwent on the day. Photo: Lynette Louw

| Two Staffie bikers killed |
|
|
|
An otherwise successful and enjoyable Staffie Rally was marred by the deaths of two rallygoers last Saturday. Mr and Mrs Swart of Waraburton were killed instantly on the Badplaas Road on Saturday morning, 30 kilometres from
Barberton.
According to Insp. Leonard Mathibela of Badplaas Police Station, they were traveling towards Badplaaas when the motorcyclist lost control and collided with a truck.
It was that time of year again when the town was invaded by bikers and more bikers. When “ma” made sure her daughter was behind closed doors and “pa” sat on the stoep listening to the revving of engines and popping of tyres and wishing he could join in the fun.
The annual Staffie Rally has come and gone and once again it was a huge success. All honour to Manny Teles and his gang who had the humongous task of seeing they were all on their best behaviour.
According to the organisers more than 1.000 people participated at this year’s event, making it the biggest ever.
It is still one of most popular rallies and the bikers come from all over South Africa to Barberton.
The popularity of the event grew by 30% this year, Manny told the Barberton Times.
The accommodation facilities in town were fully booked and according to him the town gained an estimated economic injection of R1 million.
The highlight took place on Saturday with a ride through town at 11:00 after which all the action moved to General Street and the caravan park.
Dragsters, wheelies, throwing of tyres, making of donuts on the tar, slow race and all kinds of entertainment kept the spectators next to the road to well after 16:00.
The bikers took a little break to reload all their batteries and then it was pup crawling,
loud music, wet t-shirt competition, more revving of engines and much more that kept the town alive until sunrise finally sent some of them to bed.
During the weekend a few other accidents occurred, luckily without any serious injuries. On Thursday evening one woman was slightly injured in the caravan park. Eight minor incidents occurred on Saturday in and around town injuring 10 people.
